Alyssa smiles after while showing results

Alyssa

What inspired you to kickstart your fitness journey? I like starting my day by doing something hard. It shifts my entire mindset. If I can finish a tough workout first thing in the morning, it reminds me that I’m capable of doing hard things. As a working mom with two young kids, my days can be unpredictable and demanding. Starting the day with a challenge gives me confidence that I can handle whatever comes my way, whether it’s a tough situation at work or navigating life with my kids.

How have you noticed yourself evolving since you started? I’ve become mentally stronger in ways I didn’t expect. In the beginning, it was about getting through the workout. Now it’s about pushing myself, trusting my strength, and showing up even on the days when it feels hard. I’ve learned that resilience is built in the quiet discipline of showing up again and again.

What’s been the biggest hurdle you’ve faced along the way? Time, without a doubt. Balancing work and raising two little ones means mornings can feel chaotic. There are plenty of days when it would be easier to stay home. But committing to this time for myself has been incredibly important. It’s the one part of the day that’s fully mine, and it makes me a better version of myself for everyone else.

Any pearls of wisdom for those just starting out? Just start. Don’t wait until you feel ready or strong enough. Everyone in the room started somewhere. Focus on showing up, not on being perfect. Strength builds over time, and the most important step is simply walking through the door.

How has your fitness journey spilled over into other aspects of your life? It’s changed the way I approach challenges. When I’m in a tough moment, whether at work or at home, I remind myself that I’ve pushed through harder moments on the reformer. That mindset carries over. It’s helped me become more patient, more resilient, and more confident in my ability to handle whatever life throws at me.

What keeps your fitness fire burning bright? The feeling afterward. No matter how tired I am when I walk in, I always leave feeling stronger, clearer, and more grounded. That feeling is powerful, and it keeps me coming back.

Any unexpected perks or benefits from your journey? The mental clarity has been the biggest surprise. I originally came for the physical challenge, but the mental reset has been the real gift. It gives me space to think, breathe, and start the day with intention.

What major fitness milestones are you aiming to conquer next? Right now I’m focused on continuing to build strength and pushing myself in ways that feel uncomfortable. I want to keep proving to myself that I’m capable of more than I think.

How has your mindset shifted since you began this journey? I’ve learned that strength isn’t about being the best in the room,it’s about consistency and perseverance. It’s about showing up even when it’s hard, even when you’re tired, and trusting that every effort adds up.

In what ways has The Studio (MDR) been instrumental in your transformation? The Studio has created a space where challenge and support go hand in hand. The workouts push me to my limits, but the community and instructors make you feel like you belong there. That combination keeps me motivated and coming back. It’s more than just a workout, it’s become an important part of how I take care of myself.
