Kerry Ann Sullivan after working out at MDR

Kerry Ann Sullivan

What inspired you to kickstart your fitness journey? I have always been interested in sports, working out, keeping fit, getting fit and being healthy since I was young. I love trying new workouts and am always inspired and motivated when I have a friend to work out with. I started a new job right when MDR opened and knew Lisa from a previous workout studio combined with a new friend at the new job inspiring me and motivating me to go to class together.

How have you noticed yourself evolving since you started? I love how you can notice and feel all of the little muscles from doing Lagree, especially the core and abs.

What’s been the biggest hurdle you’ve faced along the way? The biggest hurdle is always self-talk and giving yourself an out or making up an excuse.

Any pearls of wisdom for those just starting out? When I taught yoga I remember looking at the class and realizing no one is paying attention to anyone but themselves. Do not worry about what other people are doing or thinking. We create stories in our head sometimes and they are almost always inaccurate. I have met some really nice people over the years in class and I had silly stories about them created in my mind like the workout was so easy for them or whatever. They were never the case.

How has your fitness journey spilled over into other aspects of your life? I find working out regulates my body- I feel calm and even on days I workout.

What keeps your fitness fire burning bright? I like the way I feel when I workout.

Any unexpected perks or benefits from your journey? I have met some really nice people along the way and learned something different from each of my teachers.

What major fitness milestones are you aiming to conquer next? I want to feel in alignment. A few years ago I stopped drinking alcohol. I felt so much more in alignment with my mind, spirit and body. It was like a piece of my fitness goals could fall into place. This is what I am now always working towards, alignment.

How has your mindset shifted since you began this journey? My inner confidence and self worth have evolved and continue to evolve. I find a lot of what I work on outside of the studio gets integrated when I am in class and focusing on the movements and the workout.

In what ways has The Studio (MDR) been instrumental in your transformation? The Studio (MDR) has been consistent with providing quality and kind instructors, options for classes and a warm community to be part of.
