What inspired you to kickstart your fitness journey? Fitness has really been a life long journey. I am thankful for the body God has given me. I have purposely stayed intentional to be fit and active. As long as I am able to, I want to use my body and push it to its limits. I have a spirit that is fulfilled in giving my best effort in whatever I do. I see a wall and get excited thinking how I’m about to run right through it.
How have you noticed yourself evolving since you started? My first time trying LaGree was in 2023 after having my 3rd child! I thought it was the most intense form of exercise I’ve ever done and was immediately hooked! I truly believe LaGree has totally “evolved” my posture! My posture is something that I have struggled with my entire life.
What’s been the biggest hurdle you’ve faced along the way? My biggest hurdle was definitely developing diastasis recti after my 3rd pregnancy and learning how to allow my body to heal and recover. I learned how to embrace modifications and it was really humbling.
Any pearls of wisdom for those just starting out? Make each class better than the last! Be intentional to listen to all the cues the instructors give! Gems Listen to your body and be okay with modifying. I’ve corrected so many life long habits by just slowing down and taking the modification. Modifying has also been a great way to track my progress, feel new muscles develop, and discover when my body was ready to advance.
How has your fitness journey spilled over into other aspects of your life? I’ve learned to constantly have mindful movements. I find myself in a side lunge cleaning up toys rather than rounding my back to pick things up, lol
What keeps your fitness fire burning bright? Jesus Christ [period] keeps my fire burning bright in every aspect of my life. The Lord truly gives me fire, strength and peace in all things I do.
Any unexpected perks or benefits from your journey? Uhh…Pelvic floor muscles! I probably wouldn’t have noticed, but now that I’m pregnant with my fourth baby, I’m surprised how my pelvic floor feels the strongest at my 4th pregnancy!
In what ways has The Studio (MDR) been instrumental in your transformation? I have been coming for 2.5 years, I have been able to experience recovering from diastasis recti, advance in certain exercises, and now learn a whole set of pregnancy modifications! I’ve learned so much about body alignment, healthy/safe fitness, and so many exercise possibilities the megaformer offers!
